Title: Measuring vocabulary size 

SpeakerPaul Nation
Paul is a world-famous expert on 2nd language vocabulary acquisition and teaching. He has published numerous books and hundreds of articles on this and many other subjects.
 
Preliminary Abstract: This talk looks at the issues involved in measuring vocabulary size and describes a recently available test, the Vocabulary Size Test. The talk also considers how vocabulary size affects language use, and how teachers can encourage vocabulary growth.

A number of our colleagues and students will share their journeys toward success in language learning. Join us for a good time of exploration and eye-opening firsthand accounts. After the meeting, we’ll proceed to our annual Bonenkai! Last year the emphasis was on great music and drink. This year, we’ll probably be tilting toward great food (without forgetting the drink!)
